Caught in the monsoon

Went to see Diana Krall live last night.  I took the new "Health Line" special bus from work over to Playhouse Square, had dinner, then the concert.  Great show!  I had never seen her live.  It's just her and three guys.  She's on the piano, then she's got a guitar player, stand-up bass player and a drummer.  Very jazzy.  And unbelievable players all of them!  Just incredible jazz licks and improv.  She does all old standards and jazzes them up.  Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney, Sergio Mendes, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin - just a great concert.  It was done around 9:45, but I did not get home until midnight, which is why I'm dead tired now.  People take forever to get out of the theatre at Playhouse Square, so I just sat in my seat.  I missed the 10pm Health Line, waited for the 10:15pm.  I still had to get back to work because I'd left my backpack there.  It started to rain while waiting, then it turned to an all out monsoon, like someone had turned over a giant bucket in heaven.  A "frogstrangler", as a former boss of mine who was from the South, would have called it.  The problem was that normally, the Health Line loops all around Public Square and lets you out right in front of Tower City, which would have been perfect for me.  But because the Cleveland Orchestra does this huge live free concert for Independence Day (I believe the concert is on July 2nd this year), they have a giant stage they're building in front of Tower City and the bus had to let us out a good two blocks away.  The bus stops are covered, but I tried to wait it out.  No such luck - it is non-stop pouring.  Finally I made a run for it, trying to dodge under roof overhangs, but no such luck.  Soaked to the skin.  Walked through Tower City and to work, up to the 11th floor to get my backpack and I can see all the lights are on at Jacobs Field, so the game probably got rained out.  Either that, or people are still waiting to see whether the game was going to be called due to the rain.  But I figured that meant there'd be extra trains running because of the game.  Got down to the Rapid Station at 10:31.  My train left at 10:30.  And no - no extra train because of the game, so the next train wasn't until 11pm.  At least it was all indoors from Tower City to work and down to the trains, so I wasn't back out in the rain.  Got home just before midnight.  Into bed at 12:30am and up again at 5:30am.

I am one tired puppy.
